Alger silk consists out of 7 wires. These wires are loosely twisted and can be easily split. It is made of the best quality spun silk (called strusas) that are of an unrivalled regularity, lustrous and very soft. The wire does not curl in the needle, and has a good tensile strength. It is also very resistant against wear and tear.
Soie Perlee is a three wire filament yarn of 100% silk. It is smooth, soft and shiny. Available in a range of 365 colours. It is made from the best quality of raw silk, which gives you brightness and softness. This yarn does not curl in the needle, has a good tensile strength and is durable. Dyed in skeins to guarantee a homogeneous color. It is shipped on wooden spools with 16 m of yarn per spool.
Metallise tresses 4
This is a soft and very strong thread. Perfect for every needlework or craft manner. The yarn is spun with a beautiful metallic shiny thread.
This thread is a fine two ply filament silk yarn that is smooth, soft and shiny. It is made of the best qualities of raw silk, so it has an unrivalled brightness and softness. The wire does not curl in the needle, and has a good tensile strength. It has good resistance against wear and tear. This wire is thinner than the perlée, but thicker than the surfine.
This thread is a two ply spun silk yarn with a moderate gloss. It is smooth and soft. The thread is made of the best quality spun silk (called strusas) that has an unrivalled regularity, shine and softness. The thread does not curl in the needle, and has a good tensile strength . It is also highly resistant to wear and tear.
Difference between filament and spun silk:
Filament silk is obtained by dividing the wire into one long strand from the cocoon to withdraw. Spun silk threads are obtained by scraps of silk from the cocoon to spinning, such as wool and cotton spun.
Filament silk is therefore of higher quality, smoother and softer and has a very high gloss.
